“Downsized” Employees Sometimes Re-hired

By: Matt, April 12th, 2006

Though it may be unexpected, a Right Management survey has indicated that during 2005, nearly 13% of employees previously laid off were then rehired by the same firms. The survey included 14,000 employees who had bee laid off from more than 4,900 companies throughout North America.

Right Management executive Eileen Javers noted that “This marks a significant shift in employer attitudes toward rehiring laid-off workers. Due to the shortage of talent, especially at the managerial and executive levels, employers are more willing to re-hire displaced employees because of their familiarity with the job and the organization.”
