Executive AOL Jobs Moving from Virginia to New York City
By: mawist, September 17th, 2007
America Online announced today that it is moving its headquarters from Dulles, Virginia to New York City, New York. The company explained that it is making the move in an effort to support the its change in focus from a subscription-based Internet service provider to an Internet and other media advertising company.
The move is only expected to affect top executives from the Virginia offices and those employees will join nearly 400 AOL Time Warner workers who are already based out of New York.
The shift from Internet service provider to an advertising model has been in the works for a few years within AOL. As more Internet users migrate to broadband and high-speed connectivity, AOL’s suite of services has become antiquated. Their subscriber base is 60% less than its peak in 2002.
