Florida Job Search Becoming Competitive - Try a Staffing Firm

An article in The News-Press explains the growing concern of a number of workers in the Southwest Florida area who are currently out of work. There is a trend toward job market weakness during the summer months in Florida, but this season seems to have been especially bad. The downturn in the housing market is the most likely culprit, as jobs in industries directly and indirectly related to housing and construction have seen significant fall-offs.
Employment industry experts in the area, including Barbara Hartman, spokeswoman for the Career and Service Center in Fort Myers, seem to think that job seekers should focus more on career networking and on utilizing the resources that are available to them. “When people have time between jobs, they should look at the skills they are offering to employers,” Hartman said.
Perhaps the best available resource for most job seekers is a professional staffing firm or recruiter who can help job seekers identify which jobs they should be pursuing. By identifying open positions with a staffing firm, a candidate can formulate a targeted plan of education, skill-enhancement, and interview skills that are geared for specific job openings. Employers are looking for candidates who are natural matches for their open positions. No one knows those open positions better than staffing firms and recruiters.
